Is it fair? Of course not and doing something against it is totally necessary, but would you risk your life just to make a point? If i know that i will get killed immediately for drawing the prophet in a muslim country, i just don't do it, even though i think it's not fair to kill me for that. If you know there is a rapist in this park who has already raped multiple woman the past weeks, you just don't go there at midnight as a woman. Doesn't mean it's not completely false and unfair and that we shouldn't do something about it, but at some point it's just a question of whether you survive or not. If you go to a festival with 100k horny & drunk frat boys in 1999 and you throw yourself into that crowd naked, chances are high things like this will happen. I get his first point, i think it's more like "it's there and it won't go away and you have to deal with it" which is just the bitter reality. I couldn’t care any less if someone wants to walk around with the wang or tits out, more power to yah, just don’t do it at the grocery store □ It obviously sounds stupid to me now, like if a man can’t control himself that’s not MY fault, but that’s just not how I was raised. I was very aware of my behavior so as not to tempt or entice boys/men. So I was very nervous around the opposite sex. Brought up strict Roman Catholic most of her life with a very negative environment surrounding sex. My mom was a victim of several sexual assaults, at the hands of family and people who were supposed to be friends or whatever so she was very jaded. I’m 40 though, so maybe it’s because it was literally ingrained in my brain since as far back as I can remember. But I also have the mindset that I don’t walk around like that because I don’t want someone to do that to me. So I’m really conflicted with this sentiment because while I agree that just because someone was walking around topless/bottomless doesn’t mean that they want you to grab their breasts or their genitals. …The site isn’t online () so maybe that was taken down or hush moneyed. It looks as though a woman created a website where victims could email / submit their experience and she got loads of responses of assaults groping and rapes and she also got lots of misogynistic responses too saying they deserved it or were asking for it etc (…keeping in mind not everyone was as au fait with the internet back then or had access as easily as we do today or how to use it as well as we do today) I think I also read that there was a reluctance to get the police involved because of all the open drug taking and sharing (probably among “security” staff too… It seems like medical people and security were aware lots of rape and assault was going on too, one security person said after dealing with a rape victim he had assumed it would have been reported. So having watched the Netflix documentary and googling some old articles But apparently The Offspring complained about the groping they could see happening in the crowd surfing in their set and that was earlier on in the festival. I regret walking past fallen people who needed to find their way out of the burning hell it became that final night. Scher is gonna down in history as this shithead who lied to the media with not even the slightest bit of remorse in those press conferences. One-trillion percent agree with you, Scher is an awful excuse of human being.īack then Lang was very greedy for sure but in his later years I feel like Lang was probably in shock about the whole thing having been interviewed about it a second time before he died.Īnd he probably regretted it so much before he died.īut it’s absolutely fucking awful how they both downplayed it. I had a feeling during the Fatboy Slim set there was definitely what started out as a train became an orgy within absolute decadence, there was definitely rape with the potential of sodomy. It was so money-driven that they lost sight of what the original Woodstock stood for. Besides the whole event being utter chaos and pandemonium, it was horrendously organized in every sense of the word and by god the amount of greed that went through the minds of both Lang and Scher and their vendors.
